FAQS

How long are the sessions and where do they take place?

We’ll meet via PIPEDA & HIPAA-compliant, secure video for 60 minutes. Sessions are approximately 50 minutes and we use the remaining time to handle any administrative tasks like scheduling future appointments. Please note that sessions must take place in a stationary location. For safety and legal reasons, therapy sessions cannot be conducted while the client is in a moving vehicle.

There is also the option to meet in-person. My office is located at 675 Samson boulevard in Laval, Qc.

Are online sessions as effective as in-person?

Research suggests that tele-therapy can be as effective as traditional in person therapy. However, whether online or in-person therapy is better depends on individual preferences, circumstances, and needs. Both forms of therapy have their advantages and can be effective in helping individuals address and manage their mental health concerns. Ultimately, the effectiveness of therapy, whether online or in-person, depends on the quality of the therapeutic relationship, the competence of the therapist, the individual's willingness to engage and commit to the process, and the appropriateness of the chosen approach for the individual's needs. It's essential to consider your own preferences, circumstances, and the specific goals you have for therapy when choosing the format that will work best for you.

Are the sessions confidential?

All sessions between us are confidential, and no information will be disclosed to third parties without your prior written consent, unless:

• You, or any family member, presents a risk of harm to themselves or others;

• There is clear evidence that a child under the age of 18 is at risk or has been abused or neglected;

• Information is requested by a Canadian Court of Law in respect of Court proceedings.

What are the fees and will my insurance reimburse me?

The fee for our session together is $175. Insurance companies typically pay for a fixed number of therapy sessions with an appropriately qualified professional. I am accredited by the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d’orientation (c.o.) and I also hold a psychotherapy permit accredited by Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ). If you are planning on having the service reimbursed by your insurance, it is important to reach out to your insurance provider to ensure that your policy covers psychotherapy by a psychotherapist prior to scheduling a session.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel or reschedule completely free of charge up to 24 hours prior to your session. This will allow me to offer your session to another client on my waiting list.

If you cancel your session or fail to attend without providing at least 24 hours notice, you will be charged a fee equal to the cost of a session.

How long will therapy take for me to notice a difference?

The length varies for everyone. Some people find that their issues are addressed in a few sessions, whereas other people find that they benefit more from longer-term treatment. Others see me weekly for a few months while others start this way and see me less periodically. We’ll decide together what makes the most sense for you (financially, emotionally, etc).
